An app that enables anyone with basic social media knowledge to become a great vlogger. Our goal is to build the simplest vlogging app with the easiest capturing & editing with quick sharing capabilities.

Discovered user problem

Lack of intuitive mobile-based solutions that allow beginner vloggers to create collaborative vlogs easily on the go.

Outcome

POC feature to capture initial user feedback in order to build viable business opportunities for Wibble.

The solution

Hypotheses

We believe that if we create this collaboration feature for beginner vloggers, we will achieve rapid user adoption and increase the virality of the Wibble app. We will measure this by how many people from our user testing sessions would be willing to subscribe.

A feature that allows users to create collaborative video content simply, easily, and intuitively while having the ability to seamlessly provide feedback and iterate on the go using the Wibble app.

Why a collaborative feature?

Let’s think about creating a travel video with your friends, creating a simple birthday wish for one of your family members, or creating a farewell video for your WFH colleague, it will take so much time and effort from the people who are involved to get to a final video outcome. Sometimes it gets postponed forever and never to be made. This would eliminate the need for the troublesome steps of sharing files amongst each other manually and then having to edit the video in a counterintuitive way to get to a final outcome.

Business goals

  • Enables great Virality

  • Generate revenue using subscription models

  • Attract more investors

  • Distinguished competitive advantage for Wibble

  • New B2B opportunities

The research & Analysis

Inefficient  process  to  create collaborative  vlogs

To conduct the research efficiently and effectively, we participated in a scenario-based collaborative vlog creation activity. This helped us gather insights while also being mindful of our budget and resource constraints.

Collaborating on an adventure with friends

Scenario 1

Scenario 2

A pre-planned a hike with friends came in handy. I decided to use this as an opportunity to create a collaborative vlog. Here is the list of identified information.

  • Gallery filled with airdropped clips

  • Many repeated clips from different friends

  • Time-consuming selection of suitable clips

  • Difficulty in receiving videos

  • Painful iteration process with various preferences

  • Complexity led to use of mostly own clips

We basically recreated a birthday video that we made for one of our co-founders, Tali. Here is the list of identified information.

  • Different aspect ratios of received videos

  • Time-consuming re-edit process

  • Frequent exporting for review and feedback

  • Difficulty in specifying re-edit locations

  • Mismatched music and sound levels

  • Reduced video quality when received via WhatsApp

Scenario 2

Key insights

  • No beginner-friendly, easily accessible video-sharing method among collaborators as they record videos

  • No mobile-friendly, easy-to-use feedback system to iterate videos quickly

  • Discouraging beginner vloggers to make collaborative videos due to the complexities of the process

I searched for mobile-friendly tools for collaborative video content creation, but the only option I found was Canva's template-based video editor. While Canva is a great tool, it is not optimized for on-the-go vlogging. I also looked at other collaboration tools like Descript, Google Docs, Miro, G-Drive, Editor X, and Figma for inspiration in creating Wibble collaboration, a tool that would make the collaboration process simple and streamlined.

THE IDEATION

The simplified concept

The goal is to create a feature that enables anyone with basic social media knowledge to create collaborative vlogs using the Wibble app. The concept is inspired by the social media story-sharing model.

THE solution

Enabling cloud collaboration…

Collaboration feature design empowers users to be creative and allows them to make collaborative videos very efficiently by eliminating barriers and complexities.

I designed the feature in moments more than as a flow. so that it's flexible and easy for our team to understand and use as a foundation for future improvements.

Below are some important considerations for the features, based on our research. Further user testing and research will reveal the needs and goals of our users, allowing us to reshape the experience to better meet their needs.

Next steps

Collecting numerical values…

The founders were enthusiastic about the idea and envision how it could be turned into a reality. First discussed conducting user interviews and tests to gather insights and inform our next steps. To validate our assumptions and gather more information, we plan to conduct user interviews and tests to:

  • Identify specific pain points

  • Understand the solutions that users have tried

  • Learn what users don't like about those solutions

  • Obtain numerical answers such as:

    • The cost of the problem to users

    • The frequency of the problem

    • The size of users' budgets
